Jurnal Wacana Kinerja (JWK) is dedicated to maintaining the permanent integrity and authoritative record of scholarly literature. When verifiable errors, omissions, or ethical breaches are identified in published articles, JWK follows the guidelines and flowcharts established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to determine the appropriate corrective mechanism.
Categories of Post-Publication Changes
1. Corrigendum (Author Correction)
Issued when a significant, honest error made by the author(s) is identified (e.g., non-fatal numerical errors, missing acknowledgments of funding agencies, or author name spelling mistakes) that does not invalidate the primary scientific conclusions of the research.
Procedure: A separate Corrigendum statement is assigned a unique Crossref DOI, published in the subsequent issue, and bidirectional digital links are established between the notice and the original article.
2. Erratum (Publisher Error)
Issued to correct substantial production or formatting mistakes introduced by the journal during copyediting, typesetting, or file conversion (e.g., misaligned figures, corrupted data tables, or omitted text passages).
Procedure: A formal Erratum notice is published, and the corrected electronic PDF file will replace the defective one with a transparent revision footnote.
3. Retraction (Article Withdrawal Post-Publication)
In accordance with COPE Retraction Guidelines, an article will be formally retracted if the findings are found to be unreliable due to misconduct or honest error. Grounds for retraction include:
- Clear evidence of data fabrication, data falsification, or calculation manipulation.
- Unethical early childhood fieldwork (e.g., absence of parental informed consent, violation of child rights).
- Substantial plagiarism, unauthorized republication, or duplicate submission.
- Major intellectual property or copyright infringement.
Retraction Protocol: The original online HTML/PDF record is never removed from the journal website. Instead, the PDF is permanently watermarked with "RETRACTED" on each page, accompanied by a public, freely accessible Retraction Notice detailing the reasons and parties requesting it.
Exceptional Article Removal
Complete removal of an article from the online platform is an extremely rare measure, reserved solely for cases where: (a) a court order or legal ruling mandates removal, (b) the article contains clearly defamatory statements, or (c) the content poses severe privacy/safety hazards to children or human subjects. In such circumstances, metadata (title and authors) will remain on the site, replaced by an explicit legal notice stating that the item has been removed for legal reasons.
How to Report Errors or Request Retraction
Authors wishing to correct their work, or readers/institutions identifying substantial errors, should contact the editorial team with supporting documentary evidence, accompanied by a signed statement letter bearing the required Indonesian stamp duty (materai).
